Feeder Cattle Weekly Summary Report for the week of 07/09/2018

Receipts This Week:  8,753      Last Week:  2,378     Last Year:  6,065

   Compared to last week's limited offerings:  Feeder steers and heifers mostly
1.00-4.00 higher.  500-600 lb. steer and heifer calves 1.00-3.00 higher, no
test on lighter calves.  Compared to two weeks ago:  Feeder steers and heifers
5.00-10.00 higher.  500-600 lb. steer and heifer calves 7.00-12.00 higher with
no test on lightweight calves. Demand good to very good for all classes.
Quality plain to attractive.  Several new crop calves on offer today.  Cash
cattle trade Friday ended on a sharply higher note with very large volumes of
negotiated fed cattle trade and buyer demand following suit today.  Feeder
cattle supply included 62 percent Steers, 37 percent Heifers, and 1 percent
Bulls. Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs was 78 percent.
   Slaughter cows 1.00-3.00 higher.  Slaughter bulls 4.00 higher.  Packer demand 
good.  A total of 496 cows and bulls sold with 49 percent going to packers.
